Survivor's Checklist

Planning a funeral can be a complicated process. There are a number of items to consider and remember as you go through the process. Evergreen Cemetery is sharing a traditional planning checklist below to make it easier. 

  • Select a funeral home
  • Select a cemetery
  • Assemble personal info for the obituary.
  • Choose burial or cremation
  • Select casket/urn/vault
  • Choose funeral type – viewing or visitation
  • Choose floral arrangements and photography to be displayed
  • Choose clothing for deceased to wear
  • Select music
  • Select clergy/officiator
  • Select scripture
  • Select program information
  • Select pallbearers
  • Select the person to perform the eulogy

There are items that cannot be preplanned don’t forget to do the following.

  • Apply for death certificates
  • Apply for burial permit
  • Set time and date for service
  • Request preparation
  • Submit obituary
  • Arrange for reception – food, entertainment
